Android N: The Future of Mobile OS
Google recently launched a very
early preview version of Android N, the next gen mobile OS. After the success
of Marshmallow, Google is all set to come with the latest android OS in 2016.
With a plethora of new features, Google dubs this release as the future of
mobile OS and Android N will go toe to toe with Microsoft Windows 10 for Mobile
as they fight for the market share.
Android N: Salient Features
According to a leading Mobile App Development Company, Android
N is the most drastically changed android version after ICS (Ice Cream
Sandwich). This version packs many new features into the base version of the OS
which are otherwise being managed by third party apps. Much to the delight of
the people, Google also claims to have improved upon the battery usage and a
well-known android app maker backs
up the claim after using the preview version.
Some of the salient features
packed into this new OS are:
·
Multi
Window: Android N will come with an in-built multi window system in order
to run two apps at one time. Even though such features are seen in Samsung
devices, this time Google has decided to merge it with their base version so
that all android N devices will be able to support this function. This is the
biggest change that the users will see as they switch from the older versions
of android to Android N.
·
Sleep
Mode: A night mode will be built in to prevent blue wavelengths at night.
This feature is being offered by some third party apps but Google has embedded
such a sleep mode in their base version to eliminate the need for such apps.
· Faster
App Switching: A user can just double tap the recent apps button and switch
to the previously used app without having to select it from the list. This is a
new addition and it will make switching between two apps quite easy for the
users.
· Zoom:
The users will get a zoom slider on Android N that will help them in magnifying
the text during web browsing or using an app so that they can read a text whose
font size is small. This feature, however small, is a significant improvement
as the older versions of android did not have such a feature.
· Notifications:
Android N will group all notifications from a single app and treat them as one.
Even though such a feature is seen by many apps, this will become a standard
feature in the next android update. In this way, a user can easily discard
notifications from a single app as one. Also, a quick reply feature will be
embedded for all apps in the newest android version which will allow users to
quickly reply to messages without having to open the app.
·
More
Battery Life: With Android Marshmallow, Google was able to greatly increase
the battery life. With Android N, the legacy will continue as Google now aims
to control the network and data usage while the phone is kept inside a bag or
carried in a pocket. Using the sensors in the phone, Google’s Android N will
try and sense the environment of the device and control the battery usage
accordingly.
Thus, android N is surely going
to rock the mobile OS market and if the reports of a leading android app Development Company is to be believed, it can really be the next generation of Mobile
OS.
